How it's possible:
The theory is simple. A flash of a specific band of light over the treatment area targets the melanin in the hair shaft and is converted to heat. The heat and light travel down the hair shaft and disable the hair follicle so that it is no longer able to produce hair.
1. Pulsed
broad-spectrum light and heat from the
LUA(light unit assembly) are easily applied to the target area.
2. The pulsed
light selectively targets the melanin
in the hair, elevating the temperature of the follicle.
3. Heat energy from the LUA is conducted down the
hair shaft, which further increases the hair follicle
temperature needed to coagulate the hair bulge and hair bulb.
4. The combined energy of the heat and light results in
permanent destruction of the hair follicle. The result is
long-term hair reduction and removal for hair-free skin.
How long is the treatment?
Each treatment is relatively quick, depending on the size of the area to be treated. For example, the upper lip takes less than 2 minutes while a full upper and lower leg treatment takes approximately 50 minutes with the SpectraClear(tm) System.
Do I need more than one treatment?
Yes. Whether you have treatments with lasers, intense pulsed light devices or the SpectaClear(tm) System, more than one treatment will always be needed. This is because hair has a growth cycle with three phases, and it is only possible to disable hair growth during the active(anagen) growth phase. Different areas of the body have different growth cycles, so varying amounts of hair will be in the anagen phase at any one time. During your consultation, we will tell you when your return visit(s) should be in order to eliminate the greatest amount of hair in the next anagen phase. For this reason, most people need between 4-8 treatments for optimal hair removal results. Amount of hair in anagen phase at any given time:
